Weekly Weigh-In & Hoppy Easter!

Another update on my weight-loss journey! This is probably the proudest I have felt/been since starting this journey.

So yesterday I went to an easter picnic as my family does every year. As I was sifting through my closet for something to wear, I tried on a romper that I had bought last summer. Much to my dismay, it didn't fit! At first I was disappointed b/c I was so keen on wearing it, then the little light bulb clicked on and i'm like "ohhh...it doesn't fit because I've lost weight!!" (enter big smile on my face here!) I actually felt like I was swimming in it! And, it was no longer fitted around my thighs!!

Check it out:

No longer fits!
I've got a lot of room to move around in this! Lol

Soo...here's a picture of me (hard to find a full body shot by myself) back in August 2010

August 2010...150 lbs

And here's a picture of me from yesterday at the Easter picnic! I can definitely notice a change! :)
April 2010 136 lbs

and here's my results!

Hope everyone is enjoying their Easter with their family!♥

Weekly Weigh-In!

It's Time Again!!

Here are the results!

I suppose it's time to spill the beans now. I haven't lost the weight completely all on my own with diet and exercise. I've been using drugs...

Legal of course :)

I started Phentermine back on March 27th (around week 4 i believe), and can honestly say that it has helped me overcome that hump of not being able to lose anything thanks to my hypothyroidism. It's not a long term thing, mind you. It's only a 3 month therapy, but it helps to train your body and stomach to eat less. Appetite suppressant it is. And I know all about people who go on fad diets and what not and lose weight only to gain it all back once they go off the diet. Don't worry, that won't be me!

And if it sounds familiar, well that's because phentermine was part of the Fen-Phen drug back in the day that got banned by the FDA. Phentermine is still approved by the FDA though :)

It hasn't even been a month yet since I've been on the pills, and already I see great results! To be down in the 130's...well I haven't seen that happen in a loooooong time!

And although it costs me a pretty penny and I had to be medically cleared by my endocrinologist, I'm very happy that I chose to start these pills. Yes, I'm somewhat of a cheater, but with my condition, I can't lose the weight as well as other people who are completely healthy (this is not an excuse, it's the truth!).

I still do my daily exercising and eat right. I've cut out soda and drink water only (every once-in-a-blue-moon,  I will throw in a juice or something but try not to since I can easily rack up calories drinking things other than water). It's been a month-and-a-half since I've given up fast food and I don't regret it! It would be so nice to be one of those people who don't have to count calories and constantly watch what they eat. But I just don't have that luxury. I've minimized myself to an 800 calories/day diet. It doesn't seem like much, but I assure you it's quite normal for people with Hypothyroidism who have to manage a low-cal diet for the rest of their lives. And i figure it's better to start now anyway since I didn't have much discipline before.

Not to mention, it's nice having a partner who puts your eating habits first. He always thinks about me first before buying groceries for dinner or going somewhere out to eat (hey...i gave up fast food, not restaurants tho! hehe). If we do eat at restaurants, I stay away from anything fried and always carry around my Calorie King book!

Hopefully I can get down in to the 120 range which is my goal. I'm only 18 lbs away! Nothing would please me more than to be able to fit into a wedding dress whose size doesn't consist of double numbers. Not to mention, it would be nice to look back at wedding pictures one day and be proud of the way I looked in my dress!! :)

That's all for my random ramblings! Have a wonderful weekend bloggies!!

Keeping Jessica In Your Thoughts

Today I learned that Jessica @ {Mis}adventures Of An Army Wife attempted suicide. Luckily for the people who love and care about her, it was unsuccessful. I know it had been a while since she last posted (I remember her asking people's advice about going to Korea a month or so ago) and I know she was always involved with military things at her post.

It was pretty shocking. I've never known anybody who has or attempted to commit suicide. And even though I didn't know Jessica personally, it still saddens my heart hearing this. I've read through other bloggers that Jessica was unsuccessful in her suicide attempt and I hope that through this ordeal, she realizes just how many people care and love her.

Please keep Jessica in your thoughts.

I found some "warning" signs through WebMD about suicide. I know not everyone may exhibit these signs, especially those who are good about putting on a happy face, but it's good to be knowledgeable!

  • Always talking or thinking about death
  • Clinical depression -- deep sadness, loss of interest, trouble sleeping and eating -- that gets worse
  • Having a "death wish," tempting fate by taking risks that could lead to death such as driving fast or running red lights
  • Losing interest in things one used to care about
  • Making comments about being hopeless, helpless, or worthless
  • Putting affairs in order, tying up loose ends, changing a will
  • Saying things like "it would be better if I wasn't here" or "I want out"
  • Sudden, unexpected switch from being very sad to being very calm or appearing to be happy
  • Talking about suicide or killing one's self
  • Visiting or calling people to say goodbye

Govt Shutdown...

AVERTED!

I kind of figured it would be, but it still made me take a hard look at some things. I'm completely naive when it comes to politics and need most issues explained to me. Why? Because it bores me and I have no interest in following. Until I heard that my airman might not be getting paid for a while! Pretty sure I had to pick my heart up off the floor. After all, we live off of his income alone while I'm working my way through nursing school. A mortgage, two cars, electricity, gas, and the list keeps going on of bills!

All this hub-bub opened my eyes up a bit. Not to politics, but to money saving! So with my airman intact, off we went today to lower our Cox bill (saves us about 60-70 dollars a month)! As well as canceling a few other un-necessities we have.

I also have been watching Extreme Couponing on TLC! Amazing how much these ladies can save when they really dedicate time to couponing. I think I will try it this weekend starting with the Sunday paper for some clippings I can get my hands on. I doubt I will ever get as extreme as the ladies in the tv series, after all I don't have 5 or 6 mouths to feed and definetely don't have the extra space to store food like they do. (buying in bulk!)

But alas, I'm quite relieved to know I won't have to be living off ramen noodles anytime soon! And I've come up with some money saving ideas to help us save $200 a month so far. Not to mention, Ron paid off the Jared's bill (engagement ring), so there's an extra $250 a month as well, for a total extra $450 a month! yay!

Weekly Weigh-In!

I feel like I've had NO time for blogging this past week or so. With lectures, tests, and 12 hour clinical days, it's hard to find time for anything sometimes!

To keep on track of my fitness journey, I would like to stay on top of my weekly weigh-ins if anything else. :) So here's this weeks (week 5) results!

Almost 4 lbs down from last week! Yay!

Friday Weigh-In!

My poor bloggie...I'm sorry I've neglected you!

I started nursing clinicals this week and have been so busy! For a teaching hospital, the RN and LPN i shadowed weren't very teachy-like. In fact, the only time they talked to me was when I asked them something or asked if they had anything for me to do. I know they're busy but at least acknowledge my presence! SO annoying, but oh well. I will have new people next week for clinicals, so I'm looking forward to that! And I did get to see a bone marrow biopsy done right in a patient's room. Pretty sweet!! After all, who wouldn't love these giant needles perforating their bones?!

Last night was the end of my clinicals for the week, so as soon as I came home and sat down on the couch, I passed out! For a solid 12 hours. Much needed rest :)

aaaand...today is my weekly weigh-in! Finally, some poundage lost!

Happy Friday!! Time to go get my dance on! (Just Dance 2. teehee)

Weekly Weigh-In!

Oh it's that time again!

So I haven't seen a change in weight...BUT I have seen a change in the inches numbers everywhere else. So that's pretty pleasing. I also just started doing awesome cardio on my Wii this past week thanks to Just Dance 2! Who knew you could get so sweaty from a video game?! The game also has a "Just Sweat" program where it tallies the calories you burn from each song. I don't know how accurate it is, but I usually have to dance 4-6 songs to burn 1,000-1,500 calories (my daily goal). And each song is 3-4 minutes long. It's a workout!! I'm usually dying of a heart attack by the 5th song! Pheeew!

And here are the results! (drumroll please!)

Oh yeah! That's 1" off the thunder thighs! Woooo!

Even though I didn't lose any poundage this week, I'm not letting it get me down. I know I will have a harder time thanks to my awesomely underactive thyroid slowing my metabolism down. But it's great to see that inches have been lost!

Happy Friday all! ♥

Oh and just for shits and giggles, here's a video for Friday! If monotoned, lack-of-talent songs are your thing, this is your type of music!

Can you believe this girl made more than a million dolllars off this song? It's had over 3 million purchases on iTunes! What. The. Eff.

Bleeding Love :)

What's Your Song?! Link up with Amber @ Goodnight Moon who is hosting :)

I chose Bleeding Love by Leona Lewis. This song used to be on repeat on my iPod a few years back, and I heard it today randomly, and it put a smile on my face. See --> :)

She's full of talent, it was hard to narrow it down to this song!

Now it's time to tackle some laundry! Oy!! >_<

Goodnight! ♥

Insomnia...and We Heart!

It's about 330 am...and, well, whadda-ya-know? I'm wide awake!

I guess it could have something to do with the fact that i took a 2.5 hour nap earlier. Or the looming ethics paper that I had to finalize. Or my care plan I gotta have done for tomorrow's today's lab class.

All I know is...

No counting sheep for me.

Must. Get. Homework. Done.

But it's sooo hard when I have distractions everywhere I look. Dogs making weird barking noises in their sleep. Teen Mom 2 on TV (I'm a sucker for this show). Facebook (as if anyone is posting things at this time in the morning...yet I've refreshed the page at least 3 times in the past 20 minutes. geeez.).
ahem...blogger :)

Good thing I don't have lab/school til 1230 tomorrow!

Oh and what the heck, I might as well participate in
We ♥ Wednesday (my first one)!

Make sure to link up here.

I ♥ MAC Makeup!
(Ahh...vainity)

Hope all of you in blogland are having a peaceful slumber!

Happy Wednesday!

Wii! (Weeee!)

Hello World!

I am trying to put in to words my weekend wrap-up. But for some reason I can't seem to get them together. And i'm having a hard time recapping what I did. haha. Having 12 days off for Spring Break...my days have all kind of jumbled together! But anywho...

Check out my goodies I got this weekend!

1. Coastal Scents 88-Eyeshadow Palette - I included some pictures of my eyeballs with some different shades on it. Pigment on the eyeshadow is nice, and lasts all day when I apply my eye primer first. Not bad for $18.00!

2. A Wii! I've only been bugging Ron for the past 3 months to buy us one! He's been hesitant, saying I probably wouldn't ever play it. He finally agreed, and today we went to Best Buy and bought a bundle and some other accessories. We spent most of today playing it :)

We also grabbed some lunch at Wildflower. Mmm!

I'd love to blah blah some more, but I really need to get back in to my sleeping routine! Back to school tomorrow! Bleh! Happy Sunday!!

Thursday 5!

Happy St. Patty's Day!

I'm not big on celebrating St. Patrick's Day.
In fact, I'm not a fan of beer. At all.
But I do enjoy a mean plate of corned beef and cabbage!
Hopefully I can scrounge up a yummy recipe since my mom, who usually cooks it every year is on the other side of town taking care of my g-parents.

Anywho! Link up with Nicole as she hosts Thursday 5!
This is my first time doing this, so hopefully I don't completely fail :)

Upbeat
Fantastic
Accomplished
Thoughtful
Brilliant

I like starting my day off with an awesome upbeat song! It makes me feel all fuzzy inside and not to mention I bust out with the happy dance!

So far, this has been a fantastic week! After all, I'm on spring break! Ron also took the whole week off so we could have some quality time together!

After putting it off for 2 weeks, I finally got serious, sat down, and wrote my ethics paper for school. This thing has been seriously looming over my head. I sat down and with my sister's help, I managed to pull some great resources to help me get started. Boy, do I feel accomplished!

Earlier this week, Ron, my mom, and I ate lunch at Einstein's. As I looked out the window, I saw a couple with a beautiful husky! So naturally, being a husky owner, I had to go outside and pet her...only to find out, she was a stray and the couple were housing her until they could a) find her owner or b) find a shelter to takeher. I went back inside and told the family about this. My mom's immediate response? Let's take her home! Awkwaaard. Especially for my mom, the same lady who wacked me upside my head when I secretly bought a husky and brought her home (my mom isn't the biggest dog lover). Long story short, after some deliberation, we decided to adopt her! And when I say we...I mean my mom! How thoughtful of her to open her home to a lost pup! And since she brought her home, the two have been inseperable!

Kenai, my Husky (bottom) and Mishka, mom's new pup (top)

As previously mentioned, my sister helped me with my ethics paper. I must say, she (cue harry potter voice) is bloody brilliant! And she always has been! Without her, my paper would be all over the place!

And lastly, here's my song/video of the week! Link up with Amber and share your weekly song!

This video blew up on youtube, and when I first saw it, it completely melted my heart! I'm sure a lot of you have seen this video before, but it always puts a smile on my face!

Happy Thirsty Thursday!
